You know that you need to exercise, and you have a pretty good idea of what you should be eating to be healthy. But you’ve written down “get healthy” so many times on your New Year’s Resolution list you’ve lost count.

I’m Heather Thatcher, the Vitality Lifeguard, and it’s my passion to help people get out of their own way and refine their lifestyle in order to lose the weight, keep it off, improve their health and revitalize their mind, body, and spirit.

As an Intensive Care Nurse, I’ve seen how our healthcare system is failing us – the system is desperately trying to keep up with the demand and can only tell people that they “need to start taking better care of themselves” without much help or follow-up. Many of the patients that I see in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are being treated for health conditions that could have been prevented with healthy lifestyle changes.

However, very little time is spent in training Nurses and Doctors as to how we can help our patients prevent chronic disease with balanced, whole foods nutrition, exercise, stress management, and self-care. And even less time is spent teaching us how to help our patients create a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

I learned very early in my career that if I wanted to truly make a difference and help people, then I would have to continue my training and focus on health promotion and disease prevention. I have spent years expanding my education into this realm, and for the past 3 years, I have helped people just like you embrace holistic self-care.

Because self-care is more than getting a massage or having a bubble bath.

Self-care means honoring your body with movement and managing your stress.

Self-care means understanding your own health goals and feeling confident in your ability to support your unique wellness needs.

Self-care means creating an environment where nurturing your mind, body and soul comes as naturally as brushing your teeth.

Much like how a lifeguard teaches you how to swim and keeps a watchful eye to prevent anyone from slipping under, I am here for you to teach you the foundational skills and help you release everything that is weighing you down to become a master in your own health and wellness.
